Participants shared the following reflection at the Genesis Showcase:
Sasha: As we reach the end of Genesis, a few of us came together to think about what we wanted to make sure everyone knew about who we are.
Rachel: We’d like to share with you just a little bit about our identity as a Genesis community
Anna: Genesis is a place where it’s easy to make friends, even from day one.
Karmela: This is a truly magnificent place. Where teachers challenge you—
Solomon: Where every activity is just another avenue we learn something new from—
Adeena: Or where you might meet someone new who will help you see a new idea.
Sasha: There isn’t a doubt in the world that when we return home and talk about Genesis the people, the community educators, and the wisdom that has become part of me ever since I set foot on campus—
Rachel: I’ll talk about how this has been more than a summer, it’s been a journey. It helped some of us get back in touch with our roots.
Anna: It helped others of us interact with new forms of Judaism we’d never been exposed to before.
Karmela: Its safe to say that at Genesis, we try new things and push ourselves to new heights.
Solomon: Quality experiences are generated in large part by quality people. The collection of people at Genesis is specifically unique to the time and place in which the program occurs; never again can my experience–or anyone’s–be duplicated.
Adeena: At Genesis, I got the chance to meet people from all over the world. I learned about attitudes and values that I wasn’t necessarily familiar with. I got to hear languages that I don’t hear spoken very often.
Sasha: Genesis has been ever-fantastic, bubbling, exciting, illuminating, bone-shaking, and eye-opening.
Rachel: All four weeks that we’ve been here, Genesis has never failed to surprise me. I want all of us to take a final moment and realize that the friends we made here are friends for a lifetime.
Genesis is… Amazing
